At Relaxation Dentistry, we want all people to have a positive experience at the dentist. This includes patients with special needs and their caregivers. Everyone deserves a healthy mouth. For many people, however, a standard dental visit is not possible. That’s why we offer special care and special needs dentistry.

We are happy to see patients with physical or mental limitations, and we will make sure our patients are as comfortable as possible while getting necessary care completed. Please feel free to share ideas or suggestions about an approach or technique that has worked for the patient in the past, as advance instructions can help us plan a more successful visit.

We have wheelchair-accessible treatment rooms and also provide pillows for both mental comfort and physical stability. We also offer warm blankets, calming background music, aromatherapy, patient TV monitors, noise-reduction headphones and sedation options. Routines can soothe those with autism or Asperger’s. Some patients need shorter visits, and some work better with longer visits—we can do both!

Occasionally patients have behaviors that make it impossible to initiate or complete dental treatment by creating an unsafe environment for the patient or dental team. These patients would require a referral to a pediatric dentist or a dentist who can complete dental treatment in a hospital setting. We are happy to help you with a referral, if needed.

Ultimately, familiarity makes everyone more comfortable! We focus on making the dental office a safe and familiar place, which makes visits go more smoothly. We are very flexible and will work with you to provide the best experience and care possible.
