Every two years, dentists and staff are required to complete a certified BLS (basic life support) class. Some of us at Relaxation Dentistry have taken BLS more than 10 times in the past 20 years. For the past 6 years, we've had the privilege of having Jackie Charbel of CPR Specialists come to our location and teach us the latest in life saving techniques. This year we did several hours of online training at https://elearning.heart.org before Jackie came to our office. We all thought the online course was well presented and we were prepared and ready to do some "hands on" when we

For National Read a Book Day, I’d like to share my Audible audiobook list from 2018 with you. For many years, I missed having time to read until I discovered Audible in 2016. So far in 2018, I’ve listened to fifteen Audible books and read two actual books.  I find time by listening in the car, while cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, or at the grocery store. My staff and many of my patients know I’m passionate about books, and they like to share what they’re reading and give me recommendations. In fact, two of the books I listened to this year

The basic tenet of Ayurveda is that when balanced, your body has amazing powers to heal itself. One of the practices of Ayurveda is oil pulling. Oil pulling is swishing and rinsing your mouth with oil. It has been used in traditional Indian folk remedies to prevent tooth decay, bad breath, bleeding gums and to strengthen your teeth and gums. Some believe oil pulling may have more extensive benefits to your health, but most claims are unsupported. How

Flossing is one of the most difficult things to get people to do but it is one of the more effective ways at preventing disease. In 2013, The American Dental Association (ADA) reported that 52% of men and 45% of women between the ages of 35-44 were diagnosed with gingivitis (gum disease). Gum disease begins at the gum line and between teeth so flossing daily is an important part of your oral health care routine to aid in prevention. Flossing 101 The (ADA) recommends that you floss at least once a day to help remove plaque from areas between your teeth where your toothbrush

Wisdom teeth (3rd molars) do not have to be removed unless you are at risk for future pain and problems. You may be at increased risk for pain, cavities, and gum problems due to the teeth being poorly positioned. In most cases, the dentists at Relaxation Dentistry begin to monitor wisdom teeth around age 16 and continue to monitor until the age of 21. Monitoring involves a clinical exam once or twice per year and having a panoramic x-ray taken once every 3 to 5 years. If you would like a consultation regarding the health of your wisdom teeth please contact Relaxation
